The Bjoring Center for Nursing Historical Inquiry invites submissions for papers in the history of nursing and health care for the 5th Agnes Dillon Randolph International Nursing History Conference, to be held virtually, March 18-19, 2022.

The keynote address will be given by the recipient of the 2022 Agnes Dillon Randolph Award, Deirdre Cooper Owens, PhD, author of Medical Bondage: Race, Gender, and the Origins of American Gynecology (University of Georgia Press, 2017).

We welcome submissions from students (including graduate, medical, and health sciences professional students), professors, health care professionals, and independent scholars with an academic interest in the history of nursing and health care.  We particularly encourage submissions that increase the methodological, thematic, chronological and geographical diversity of the history of nursing and health care and engage related fields.

Participants may propose individual papers or panels of several papers on a theme. If you are proposing a panel, please provide the title and theme of the panel, and a list of 3 or 4 authors and paper titles related to that topic. Each author will need to individually submit his or her own proposal for their papers within the panel.

Speakers should expect to give a presentation of no more than 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion. All submissions should represent original scholarship not already published or in press. We will not accept more than one paper from a given primary author for presentation.

Submissions must include an abstract (of no more than 350 words) with title, your name, and institutional affiliation.
Abstracts must be submitted by November 1, 2021. The Program Committee will notify you as to whether your paper is accepted no later than December 15, 2021.

All participants and attendees are required to register for the conference but there will be no cost. The conference will be fully captioned.
