"Spectacle and Power in the Transatlantic World"

THSO is sponsoring the 21st Annual International Graduate Student Conference on Transatlantic History, October 1-3 2021. Due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19, this year’s conference will be fully virtual. Full CFP and more info can be found at http://transatlantichistory.com/.

The theme of this year’s conference, "Spectacle and Power," will explore the ways in which displays of spectacle have been used to create and reify power in the Atlantic world from the 1400s to the present day. We will have two keynote speakers: Dr. Jeremy M. Johnston of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West; and Rick Benjamin, director of the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra.

Submission of individual paper abstracts should be approximately one hundred words in length and should be accompanied by a maximum one-page curriculum vita, saved as a single Word document. Panel proposals should include titles and abstracts of the panel as a whole as well as each individual paper as a single Word document. Deadline for submission is June 15th. We will notify authors of accepted papers by August 1st. Those interested in submitting either a paper or panel proposal can do so HERE.
