In 2017 the Bible known as the Vinegar Bible is marking the 300th anniversary of its printing in Oxford, England. One of these impressive lectionary Bibles resides at Christ Episcopal Church in Shrewsbury, NJ and the parish is celebrating its birthday with a special event, called "1717", that will be held on September 30th, 2017 at 7 pm at the Church. The celebration will consist of discussions about various aspects of the Bible's History and performancefs of music of that period that have a remarkable connection to the Bible. The Bible has been residing in a display case at the church for many decades but has been liberated for this tercentenary year and is available for close perusal.

This is the only copy of the Vinegar Bible in New Jersey.

The event is free and open to the public. A flyer about this event is viewable on the parish web site ( christchurchshrewsbury.org ) on the Home Page which also has a link to a brief multimedia video about the Bible. More information is available by contacting the parish office at 732.741.2220 or chrstchurchshrewsbury@verizon.net
