Front Range Early American Consortium Annual Conference, October 6-7, Boise, Idaho
Hello Everyone,
You are invited to submit a proposal for a paper or roundtable for this year’s FREAC meeting, which will take place on the weekend of October 6-7, 2017 in Boise, Idaho. As we usually do, we will gather informally on Friday evening. Sometimes, those Friday gatherings include a presentation or organized conversation, so we welcome any suggestions for something along those lines. On Saturday, we will have a slate of papers and possibly a roundtable, followed by our usual five-minute “business meeting” and dinner out.
This year, we are also encouraging individuals who may wish to submit an entire chapter or prospective article a couple weeks before the conference. We can read it before the 7th, and give comments and suggestions on the day of the conference in a special session/ panel. So if you have a piece or a selection that has been a particular bug-bear and would like that sort of feedback, please consider this option.
With all of this in mind, we invite proposals for papers or roundtables on any topic within early American history (“American” broadly construed, of course). Those of you who have attended FREAC in the past know that we are a very supportive, energetic, and collegial audience and encourage creative and informal approaches (and those of you who have not attended before should come!). We welcome original research, historiography or surveys of a field, and papers or discussions on innovative ideas in teaching. Discussions of work in progress or brand-new projects are always welcome. And if anyone has any ideas for an engaging and informal Friday night conversation, we’d love to hear that, too.
If you would like to present this year, please e-mail a proposal (2-3 paragraphs) and a short c.v. to Vikki Deakin (vikkideakin@weber.edu) or Ron Hatzenbuehler (hatzrona@isu.edu) by September 1.
Details about hotels and other accommodations will be e-mailed separately. Any questions about the program or the weekend in general? E-mail either of us to ask.
We look forward to hearing from you.
All best,
Vikki and Ron
