MHA Dorothy Schwieder Prize

The Midwestern History Association invites nominations for the Dorothy Schwieder Prize for the best article in Midwestern history published during the 2017 calendar year. The winner will be announced in spring 2018 at the annual meeting of the Midwestern History Association.

MHA Jon Gjerde Prize

The Midwestern History Association invites nominations for the Jon Gjerde Prize in Midwestern History.  Books published in 2017 are eligible.  The Prize is named for the late Jon Gjerde, who made significant contributions to the understanding of American history, especially the people of the Midwest.  Born in Waterloo, Iowa, Gjerde earned his BA from the University of Northern Iowa and his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He held the Morrison Professorship in American History and American Citizenship and then served as a dean at the University of California-Berkeley.
