The KT80 Symposium invites you to a talk by DIANE SAMUELS, author of the play Kindertransport

“Theatre of Separation and Survival: The Life and Impact of the play Kindertransport”

 

Diane Samuels will talk about her play which has been performed around the world and widely studied in schools since it was first performed in 1993.

 

Diane wrote the play after being inspired by meeting a number of surviving Kinder.  The play went on to win the Verity Bargate and Mayer Whitworth awards. With the 80th anniversary of the Kindertransports, the themes emerging from these child refugees is more relevant than ever.

 

In this talk, she invites discussion as she reflects upon the process of writing the play and the impact of displacement, childhood separation, and the price of survival and finding a way to heal.
