What does being a book reviews editor entail?
• Proactively commissioning reviews of relevant books;
• Working with the book reviewers to ensure each journal issue has an engaging and varied selection of reviews of high standard;
• Planning for future issues of Migration and Society;
• Working collaboratively with the journal co-editors and the Berghahn Journals team to ensure timely submissions of high quality;
• Encouraging submissions by colleagues and peers and spreading the word about the journal.
We are looking for people who are enthusiastic and committed to the ethos and aims of Migration and Society. This includes a commitment to inclusive citation and scholarly practice. We also encourage our contributors to ensure they reference and engage with the work of female, black, and minority ethnic writers, and work by other underrepresented groups. We ask that books reviewers commit to a five-year term.
Expressions of interest
Please send an expression of interest in the form of a CV and a statement (max 1 page) addressing why you would like to be book reviews editor for the journal and what experience you would bring to the journal. We welcome both individual and paired EOIs. We would expect book reviews editors to be at post-doctoral level (or have comparable standing and experience), and especially welcome applications from women, people of minoritized backgrounds, and people based in the Global South. We will start considering EOIs from 15 Feb onwards and will keep the call open until we have filled the post.
