CFP: A Viking in the Sun: Harald Hardrada, the Mediterranean, and the Nordic World, between the late Viking Age and the Eve of the Crusades, Snorrastofa (Iceland)

The Centre for Late Antique, Byzantine, and Islamic Studies of the University of Edinburgh and the Snorrastofa, Cultural and Medieval Centre in Iceland, are pleased to announce the first interdisciplinary conference of the project A Viking in the Sun: Harald Hardrada, The Mediterranean, and the Nordic World, between the Late Viking Age and the Eve of the Crusades. The event is organised by Dr. Gianluca Raccagni, University of Edinburgh, and is titled "Event 1: Textual and Material Sources and their Performativity". It will take place in Snorrastofa (Reykholt, Iceland), 29-31 May 2023.

Dear all,

I'd like to share the inaugural call for papers of the Journal of Palestinian Christianity, a new Palestinian-led, Palestine-based, peer reviewed, bilingual journal exploring the unique dynamics of Palestinian Christian communities throughout history and the present day. We welcome articles from a variety of fields ranging from theology and religious studies to anthropology, sociology, political science, history, literature and culture. Likewise, we welcome contributors from all Christian and religious/secular backgrounds, in both historical Palestine and abroad.

Call for Hosting the 6th World Congress for Middle East Studies (WOCMES) 2025


The First World Congress for Middle Eastern Studies (WOCMES) in 2002 was initiated by MESA. Since then, this World Congress has become the most important international event on studies in social sciences and humanities related to the Middle East, North Africa and the Muslim states of Central Asia and the relations of this region with other parts of the world. Mideast-Medieval studies are one of the major fields presented in WOCMES.

Applications Open for the MA in Muslim Cultures

Applications are welcome for the MA in Muslim Cultures at the Aga Khan University's Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations (AKU-ISMC)​ in London.

The MA programme provides expert insight and deep understanding of Muslim cultures and civilisations, both in the historical and contemporary worlds. AKU-ISMC’s programme gives students the skills to engage critically, in original and creative ways, with the challenges faced by Muslim societies.
