International Graduate Scholarship Opportunities in History at the University of Melbourne
The History Discipline in the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies at the University of Melbourne is offering Scholarships for international graduate students for commencement in 2018.
In Australia the PhD is awarded solely on examination of the completion of an 80-100,000 word research thesis, to be completed in three to three and a half years. PhD students in the Arts Faculty (which includes History) also undertake a small coursework component of research workshops and electives in their first year.
About History at Melbourne:

Academic staff are internationally connected scholars recognized for their excellence in teaching and research. They include specialists in American, Asian, Australian, European and Middle Eastern history who work on a range of topical themes and methodologies.
The History Discipline at the University of Melbourne is in a period of expansion. It has moved to the new flagship Arts West building, and the recent Hansen Gift has funded new appointments with expertise in early modern Europe; Indigenous and colonial histories; modern Japan; and modern Russia.
The University of Melbourne has outstanding library, research and archival collections. The History program has international partnerships with leading universities around the world, with international opportunities for graduate students. A lively graduate community in History has its own student association and produces the Melbourne Historical Journal. Students benefit from a range of specialist training, master classes, and access to travel grants.
