Jews and Property in the Cities of Central Italy in Early Modern Times

Dear colleagues,

Luca Andreoni and myself are pleased to inform you of the publication of a thematic dossier of the journal Proposte e Ricerche. Economia e società nella storia dell’Italia centrale devoted to Jewish property in the ghettos of central Italy in early modern times, when Jews could not theoretically own their homes. A central place of the dossier is given to the norms governing the right of possession that Jews enjoyed over the dwellings of the neighborhoods where they were forced to reside, but also to the conflicts surrounding the sharing of the rent, or to the strategies of resistance and reappropriation of space by the ghettoized Jewish minorities.

You will also find summaries of previous issues of the journal Proposte e Ricerche. Economia e società nella storia dell’Italia centrale which deal with a wide variety of economic and social history topics for all the historical periods.

With kind regards,

Michaël Gasperoni and Luca Andreoni
