Visiting Assistant Professor in Modern Greek History, Bogazici University Department of History
The Department of History at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey, is pleased to announce that it will be recruiting for an academic position to be funded by the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation as of the beginning of the next academic year in September 2017, in the field of Modern Greek History within the framework of the greater Balkans and Anatolia.
The holder of this position will be expected to teach a total of four courses each year, one undergraduate course and one graduate seminar per semester. The weekly load for any undergraduate course or graduate seminar is three hours. Courses are to be taught entirely in English, and course material, textbooks, and readings need also to be in English.
The position is funded by the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation on the basis of a yearly total of 26,000 Euros net. Boğaziçi University will provide the holder of the position with free accommodation for the duration of his/her contract. Recruitment will be made on the basis of a contract subject to renewal at the end of the academic year. The expected duration of the contractee’s stay is two years, but can be prolonged for another two years if all parties agree.
Candidates with a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field and excellent command of English should send in their application to the Department of History before March 31st, 2017. The application file should include a detailed CV and list of publications, and three letters of recommendation from specialists in the candidate’s field. Candidates should include a detailed syllabus and course description for the undergraduate course and the graduate seminar they wish to propose for consideration. They are also expected to include a sample of their written work.
The final decision will be taken by the department, pending approval of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation.
