CALL FOR AUTHORS: Encyclopedia of Cancer & Society 2nd Edition
The 2nd Edition of SAGE’s Encyclopedia of Cancer and Society is now under development (1st Edition: 2008 Editors’ Choice Award, Booklist). This updated three-volume reference will include over 700 articles, ranging from 1,000 words for definitional articles up to 4,000 words for significant essays, covering issues that surround cancer and its effects on society far beyond the medical conditions themselves. Categories of topics include the Business of Cancer, Cancer Associations, Biographies, Treatments and Therapies, Alternative Treatments and Therapies, Causes of Cancer, Cancer Around the World, and more.
The scope of the Encyclopedia encompasses the relative individual and societal aspects of cancer, from the latest research from the National Cancer Institute to studies on alternative diet and nutrition treatments. The signed articles, with cross-references and Further Readings will be accompanied by pedagogical elements, including the new Reader’s Guide, updated Chronology of Cancer and Society, updated Resource Guide, updated Glossary, and thorough new index.
This comprehensive project will be published by SAGE Reference in 2015 and will be marketed to academic and public libraries as a print and digital product available to students via the library’s electronic services. The General Editor, who will be reviewing each submission to the project, is Dr. Graham Colditz, Washington University in St. Louis, where he serves as associate director, Prevention & Control at the Siteman Cancer Center.
The list of available articles is already prepared, and as a next step we will e-mail you the Article List from which you can select topics that best fit your expertise and interests. Additionally, Submission Guidelines will be provided that detail article specifications as well as a sample article.
We are currently making assignments with a deadline of April 14, 2014.
