Although multilingual literature has a long history, the investigation of literary multilingualism has only moved into the focus of literature studies in the 2000s. The works of Herta Müller and Oskar Pastior have particularly awakened interest in this regard. Issue 2.19 of Spiegelungen explores the aesthetic presentation of multilingualism and mixing languages in literary texts in search of answers the question of how Southeast European languages and aesthetic traditions form potential meanings in these texts.
