The Department of German and Russian Languages and Literatures at the University of Notre Dame invites faculty and advanced graduate students to participate in the 2017 Notre Dame Berlin Seminar (July 9 - 20, 2017), which brings American scholars of German literary and cultural studies together with experts and leading figures of Germany’s literary scene.

Participants have the opportunity to engage personally with representatives from different areas of Germany’s vibrant literary field. Throughout the seminar, they not simply read about, study, and discuss the Literaturbetrieb, but rather apply what they learn in practice. Members of the seminar also have the opportunity to conduct interviews with the authors, and consult with publishers, editors, and literary critics.

We are pleased to announce that thanks to a generous grant, we can offer participants flights subsidies of up to $1200.
The application deadline has been extended to April 15, 2017. We will, however, be reviewing and accepting applications on a rolling basis. Please submit your application online on our website where you can find more information about NDBS, including a sample program from the inaugural 2016 seminar.
