if you are a student, or a mentor to a student in German studies, please consider our call for applications for the University of Georgia's MA program in German studies. We are currently accepting applications.
We are a Germanic and Slavic Studies Department and have eight German faculty members, whose research and teaching spans German Literature, Culture, Film and Media, Linguistics, and Pedagogy. MA students have two degree options (thesis/non-thesis; and MA and MAT). They can choose between two areas of concentration: Literary/Culture Studies or Linguistics/Applied Linguistics. During their studies, gradaute students receive funding through teaching assistantships. We additionally offer two Max Kade Fellowships in German Studies for one full academic year, and study abroad opportunities in Germany (Bamberg, Erlangen, and Rostock).
Georgia’s flagship university is located in Athens, and is one of the top 20 public universities in the United States. It boasts a diverse environment with a student population of 34,000. Athens is a unique college town featuring a vibrant music and arts scene as well as a spirited and active community. Located 75 minutes from Atlanta with a population of 117,000, the Classic City has a low cost of living, but an outstanding quality of life.
The application deadline for the Fall semester is March 15th and for the Spring semester September 15th.
I am happy to send a flyer about our program and to answer any further questions you might have. Please send email inquiries to our Graduate Coordinator, Joshua Bousquette: email@example.com, or to myself, Berna Gueneli: Berna.Gueneli@uga.edu.
