Felix Bokelmann Discussion

The Class of Language Education of the Graduate School Language & Literature Munich is inviting applications for PhD-places starting the forthcoming summer semester 2023.

The doctoral programme of the Class of Language Education offers a research oriented and integrated curriculum open to doctoral candidates in all language education majors of the Faculty of Languages and Literatures at the LMU. Professors from German and English language education, as well as romance and classical languages, present a wide spectrum of theoretical positions, research methodology
approaches, and practical applications.

The interdisciplinarity of the courses offered focuses on the processes and results of teaching and learning language, literature, and culture in first, second, and foreign languages, both in school and outside school contexts. Dissertation projects can deal with historical, theoretical, or empirical questions in language, literature, or media didactics, as well as classroom research. Furthermore, doctoral candidates in the Class of Language Education will receive intensive individual supervision of their dissertation projects from a team of supervisors, an interesting workshop and presentation programme with guest researchers, chances to gain key qualifications, multiple opportunities for theoretical exchange, as well as financial support for research and conference travel.

Deadline for applications: December 11, 2022.
