Announcing the Material Culture Caucus mentoring sessions and reception at the American Studies Association Annual Meeting, States of Emergence, November 8-11, Atlanta, Georgia
About the Mentoring Sessions:
The Material Culture Caucus of the American Studies Association is offering an opportunity for emerging scholars in the field to speak with senior faculty and museum professionals at our annual conference in Atlanta. In advance of the meeting, we will pair interested graduate students and recent graduates with mentors. We will notify the pairs (or a small group) by November 3rd and provide contact information so that they can arrange to meet at a time and venue convenient for them during the conference. Any expenses will be the responsibility of the individuals.
If you are an emerging scholar interested in such mentoring, please send an email, including your contact information and a 100-word overview of your work and interests, to Andrea Quintero at email@example.com by October 31st. Please write to the same address if you are willing to serve as a mentor.
About the Reception:
Time: Friday, November 9, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Location: Apex Museum (135 Auburn Avenue NE; a 12 minute walk from the conference hotel)
Celebrate with conference-goers in the nearby APEX Museum, an institution devoted to presenting and interpreting history from an African-American perspective. The reception will serve as a second opportunity to receive informal mentorship and meet others involved in Material Culture and Visual Culture Studies. This reception is sponsored jointly by the Material and Visual Culture Caucuses.
