The Department of the History of Medicine at Johns Hopkins, founded in 1927 by William H. Welch, is accepting applications for its PhD program, for matriculation in the Fall of 2019. Our PhD students are fully funded for five years and are very competitive for academic jobs, museum work, and other related areas. We have expertise in African, East Asian, European, and American history, from the Pre-modern era to the present,

We are hosting several visiting days this fall, in which students may meet the faculty and students, attend Colloquium and join us for happy hour afterward. These are all held on Thursdays and unless the student is within easy driving distance a 1-2 night stay is recommended.

If you are interested in applying to our program, or have students who you think would enjoy and benefit from it, please contact Nathaniel Comfort, Director of Graduate Studies, Johns Hopkins University, comfort@jhmi.edu.
