The Department of History at Virginia Tech seeks an historian of the ancient Mediterranean for a two-year Instructor position; restricted, nine-month appointment, beginning August 2023.

Candidates must have independent teaching experience and a record of success in the classroom. The instructor will teach the introductory Ancient History course, and other lower or upper division courses in ancient Mediterranean history determined in conjunction with the Director of Undergraduate Studies. They will contribute to the inter-disciplinary Classical Studies program. Members of historically excluded groups and individuals who employ innovative and inclusive pedagogies are encouraged to apply. Teaching load: 4 courses per semester. In-person teaching required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Ph.D. strongly preferred but will consider advanced ABD 
Independent teaching experience
