Progenitor of both Western and Middle Eastern civilization, the Mediterranean basin has constituted a vital locus linking Europe, Africa, and Asia for millennia and has remained an important center of national and international interest, interaction, and multifaceted cross-pollination. Consequently, this conference will analyze the manifold dimensions of human endeavor centered around the Mediterranean, defined as the region extending from the western terminus of the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates Valley. The Departments of History and International Studies invite practitioners and scholars of various disciplines to submit a 300-word proposal and a one-page CV for individual papers, roundtables, or panels for a conference to be held at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York, on March 13-14, 2020. Graduate students and individuals at the post-graduate/professional level should feel free to apply. The submission deadline is February 1, 2020. Please address all correspondence to “Conference Committee Organizers” at firstname.lastname@example.org.
