SSHA 2020 Labor Network Call for Papers

Labor network co-representatives Cristina Groeger (Lake Forest College; History), Tristan Ivory (Cornell, Sociology), Amanda Walter (Towson University; History), and Greg Wood (Frostburg State University; History) invite proposals for the 2020 annual meetings of the (SSHA), to be held in Washington DC on November 19-22.


The submission deadline is approaching fast (February 16), but it is not too late! We are writing to encourage you to submit a paper abstract to the Labor Network of the SSHA.


We accept both full sessions and individual papers.


Works that align with the 2020 conference theme – Politics, Society, and the Economy: the Past and Today – are particularly welcome. This year the network is also interested in works on the following topics:

  • Race, Politics, and Labor
  • Academic Labor as Itineracy
  • Labor and New Immigrants
  • Conservative Workers
  • Roundtable on Reviving the Strike / 2020 election
  • Roundtable on Sectoral Organizing
  • Technology & Labor
  • Climate Change and Labor
  • Organizing Strategies among Contingent Workers
  • Living Wage / Catholic Social Concern
