Italian lotus eaters.

Gerard Cheshire's picture

Dear Historians of Italy,

Some of you may be interested to know that the translation of a page from a 15th-century Italian manuscript has identified the plant known vernacularly as the lotus. A free paper is available here:

Much of the manuscript is about herbal plants used for medicine and food with regard to human reproduction. The remainder of the manuscript concerns therapies and treatments in relation to reproduction in accordance with Medieval belief systems.

Please disseminate this information widely, so that other scholars may benefit.
Kindest regards,
Dr. Gerard Cheshire.
