“The Sufi Saint of Jam: History, Religion, and Politics of a Sunni Shrine in Shiʿi Iran” by Shivan Mahendrarajah (Twitter: @S_Mahendrarajah) is now in print.
This is a history of an Islamic institution over nearly ten centuries. There is a section on the shrine-complex’s eclectic architectural ensemble—ranging from Ilkhanid-era to Safavid-era architectural styles and artistic flourishes—and recent refurbishments and additions. Included are twenty color plates, five B&W images, and nine architectural schematics.
