Publication announcement - IJIA's special tenth anniversary issue

Mohammad Gharipour Discussion

The International Journal of Islamic Architecture (IJIA) is pleased to announce the publication of its special tenth anniversary issue (10.1) on the theme “Islamic Architecture: Reflections on the Field.”

As a journal that has reappropriated the term “Islamic architecture” to interrogate transregional trends and interdisciplinary methodologies, since its establishment in 2012, IJIA has expanded and refined the meanings of both “Islamic” and “architecture.”

This special issue marks this effort with more than twenty short essays that explore issues of pressing scholarly and/or professional concern for the wider field of Islamic architectural studies. Issues addressed include architectural design and identity, art curation, urban development, research and historiography, publication and education. In addition to these critical commentaries, the special issue includes reflections on the journal's first decade and its future.
