The Society for German-American Studies will hold its 40th annual Symposium in San Antonio, TX, from 28–30 April 2016 at the Marriott Plaza – San Antonio.

The theme of the program is: “German Seed in Texas (and other) Soil: Weighing Location and Culture.” However, papers dealing with any aspect of German-American Studies are welcome. We invite you to submit a one-page abstract for a scholarly paper. Papers may focus upon any of a broad range of topics from the history, language, literature, society, and culture of Germans in the Americas to the interaction between immigrants from German-speaking areas of Europe and the people of their adopted homeland as well as the entire immigrant experience. In the past, the types of topics which have been explored include: the German-American experience in various wars from the Revolution to World War II, Political Conflict, Religion and Irreligion, Biography and History, Linguistics, Poetry, Artists and Architecture, Writers and Scholars, Libraries and Archives. Membership in the Society for German American Studies is required to participate.
