Hybrid Conference May 6-7, 2022

HAS Subcommittee on the History of World War II |Budapest & Online |Abstract submission deadline: March 20, 2022

The Hungarian Academy of Sciences Subcommittee on the History of World War II invites scholars to its international conference on the history and memory of the period from the German occupation until the end of the military operations in the spring of 1945 in Hungary, to be held in person and online. The conference will focus on the events of the Arrow Cross terror, while also contributing to a broader understanding of the social and economic processes that resulted from these events as well as the Soviet military presence in the country. A separate English-language panel will be dedicated to papers on transnational perspectives on the Hungarian situation in this transition period from desperate war to often violent peace.

Please submit proposals to by March 20, 2022.

Each proposal should include: The author’s name and affiliation ▪ Email address ▪ An abstract of no more than 250 words (with 4-5 keywords) ▪ A short biography (no more than 100 words)

The language of the conference will be Hungarian with a separate English-speaking panel. Conference participation is free of charge. The organizers will respond to all applications by April 6, 2022.
