CFP: Berkshire Conference co-sponsored panels at the Society for the History of Technology Conference in Singapore, June 22-26, 2016.
The Berkshire Conference of Women Historians to collaborate with the Society for the History of Technology (SHOT) Conference: This collaboration is born out of an effort to better connect the important work being done by historians of women, gender, and sexuality with the work of historians of technology who focus on issues of gender and technology. For those of you who may be hearing about the Society for the History of Technology Conference for the first time, the program committee invites proposals on any topic in a broadly defined history of technology, including topics that push the boundaries of the discipline. In an effort to create new opportunities for intellectual dialogue between the Berkshire Conference of Women Historians and the Society for the History of Technology, we are issuing this invitation to submit proposals dealing with issues of women, gender and technology to co-sponsored panels at the 2016 SHOT meeting to be held in Singapore, June 22-26.
For more information on SHOT, the call for papers, the conference, and tips for putting together a successful abstract, please visit: http://www.historyoftechnology.org/call_for_papers/index.html. Please note that if individuals become members of SHOT, they are eligible to apply for conference travel grants. Information on travel grants can be found here: http://www.historyoftechnology.org/about_us/travel_grants.html.
If you are interested in being part of one of our panels, please send Emily Gibson (emilykatherinegibson@gatech.edu) a one-page abstract (maximum 500 words) and a one-page short CV with current contact information by December 12. On our end we will “bundle” the proposals and construct panels that will then be forwarded to the conference program committee.
