I would like to organize a panel that tackles issues related to advocacy journalism, the notion of "objectivity" in journalism, how that idea has changed over time, and how different groups have approached and used that idea to advance their own views and/or to dismiss the views of other groups. My paper will focus on the Communist newspaper/magazine, Working Woman (1929-1937). Papers on all periods, geographic areas, and topics are welcome, as long as they specifically address issues related to advocacy journalism.

If interested, please send the following to victoria.grieve@usu.edu no later than February 10, 2022.

  • Paper or presentation title
  • Abstract or description for your presentation (up to 300 words)
  • Biographical paragraph or CV summary (up to 250 words)
  • Correct e-mail address
  • Affiliation, city, state, and country
  • Suggestions for the panel chair and commentator for the session
  • Audiovisual needs, if any
  • Professional Twitter handle (optional)
  • Website (optional)
