Opportunity to study Italian diaspora culture in a unique summer program in Rome through the Università degli Studi Roma Tre and the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute, Queens College/City University of New York.

The Italian Diaspora Studies Summer Seminar™ is a three-week summer program that takes place at Roma Tre University. It is designed to introduce participants (doctoral students and professors) to cultural studies of the Italian diaspora from a variety of academic perspectives and to foster the development of individual projects responding to the materials covered in the series of seminars in literature, film, and the social sciences. All participants will engage in a special research project.

The program will be accepting up to twenty participants. The dates of the program are from June 13, 2022 to July 1, 2022.

Fellows will spend three weeks in a four-star hotel that is a ten-minute walk from Roma Tre University. Cost of room, board (breakfast and lunch), and tuition (12 Roma Tre credit hours): $3000. Air and ground travel are additional. Click here for the application form and click here for more information on the program schedule and faculty. Scholarships of up to $1500 are available.

At this time, we are soliciting applications. However, given the inconsistent situation with COVID-19, we will hold off on any final decisions of the 2022 Seminar until we have approval from both Roma Tre University and the City University of New York. We will not, at this juncture, require a deposit upon acceptance until we have a final decision by our two home institutions.

Application Deadline: March 4, 2022.
