Call for Panelists for 2023 American Historical Association meeting
Hello!
My name is Grace London and I am a PhD candidate at Auburn University. I am looking for a panelist and a chair for the 2023 AHA annual meeting held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from January 5-8. The panel theme is black female leadership and empowerment.
This theme could lend itself to papers set in any time period that examines aspects of black female leadership in U.S. history; papers that examine black female political activism; and papers that explore black female intellectual work. My paper focuses on late 20th century black female intellectuals and their efforts to create positive definitions of black femininity in response to prevalent negative stereotypes of black women in media and propagated by politicians.
Graduate students, early-career scholars, and independent historians are welcome. The deadline to submit proposals is February 15, 2022, so please contact me with a brief description of your proposed paper by February 1, 2022.
My contact email is ggl0004@auburn.edu.
