Cultural Heritage is a key element to promote socio-economic development, but its full potential –as an engine for innovation and
growth, remains unfulfilled. To bridge this gap there is need to address the complex links between traditional cultural assets and
policies (cultural heritage, dynamic cultural institutions and services) and the opportunities provided by new demands and societal needs.
This implies involving actors that work in the cultural heritage field with those developing and implementing advanced technologies
attuned to the new civilization. It evolved due to the impact on society of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) in
its various guises - the New Media, the Internet, the Web, mobile services and the IoT (Internet of Things).
The conference will be a meeting of the relevant professional communities from Brazil and from abroad enabling exchange of
experiences, mutual learning and to build joint projects. This initiative is in synergy with the increased cooperation between the
European Union and Brazil.
