Apuntes, revista de ciencias sociales, a peer-reviewed social science journal edited by the Research Center of the Universidad del Pacífico, invites researchers to submit articles and book reviews for its 79th issue (to be published during second semester of 2016) which will be devoted to the subject of “Early Childhood Development.” (ECD)
Children from different socioeconomic backgrounds exhibit significant differences in developmental outcomes. These inequalities emerge early and persist over time. Evidence suggests that such differences are difficult to overcome later in life, and limit these children’s future economic opportunities and wellbeing.
The literature offers strong causal evidence to support the claim that ECD intervention can deliver improvements in child outcomes in the developing world. However, there is much less analysis and evidence addressing the mechanisms involved in these effects, especially related to interventions that seek to impact parental behavior. In addition, there are few results available regarding programs working at scale and few analyses that address the issue of cost-effectiveness.
Apuntes, revista de ciencias sociales, invites researchers to submit scientific papers that analyze the effects and mechanisms behind ECD interventions in the developing world. This special issue seeks to focus on the mechanisms through which these interventions impact child outcomes, the challenges faced when trying to scale-up these programs, and how they compare to other interventions in terms of their cost-effectiveness.
Articles must be a minimum of 8,000 and a maximum of 10,000 words long, excluding the bibliography, abstract, and keywords. Book reviews must be no longer than 1,200 words. Instructions for authors can be found on the journal’s website: http://revistas.up.edu.pe/index.php/apuntes/index.
Articles and reviews should be submitted in Word (Times New Roman 12 font, 1.5 line spacing) before April 30, 2016, to the following address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
