CALL FOR PAPERS

This workshop invites proposals for individual papers addressing a wide range of themes centered on South-east Asian literatures, including (but not limited to):

 

- Making the Planet Our Home: Myth and Ecology

- Conflict and Mediation: Ecologies of Nationality and Ethnic Diversity

- Environmental and Social Injustice: Imaginings of Disasters

- Imagining South-east Asian Societies through Ecology: Signs and Meanings

- Environmental Allegories of Urbanization in South East Asian Literatures

- Ecological Functions of Mythology: Modernization and Resistance

- Eco-Consciousness and the Creation of Folk Myths and Modern Myths

- Nostalgia: Myth-Making of Geological Pasts

- Women and Nature in Southeast Asian Literatures: Similarities and Differences

- Anthropogenic Ecological Crises and Trauma Discourses

- Conflict and Mediation: Ecologies of Nationality and Ethnic Diversity

- Cultures of Antiquity: Water, Forest, and Humans

- Multinational Corporations and the Local Ecological Environment

*  Membership is payable at the Vietnam conference, in Vietnamese Dong (VND), based on the monetary conversion rates which apply during the conference. Current non-members may submit abstracts now, but must pay for membership in order to attend the conference.

 

Membership fees for ASLE-ASEAN follow a striated system according to one's monthly income. Please bring along some proof of income (e.g. salary certificates) to the conference, otherwise you will not be eligible to any discounted rates. Do also note that membership is tenable for a year from the date of payment, and will also grant access to ASLE conferences, as per ASLE's agreement with its affiliate organisations (including ASLE-ASEAN).
