The eighth in our Public Voices series, Cass Sunstein, Robert Walmsley University Professor, Harvard Law School,  comes to The Center for Public Scholarship at The New School to discuss the new "Social and Behavioral Sciences Initiative" at The White House which seeks to turn research findings into improvements in federal program performance and efficiency. They've begun implementing these improvements for a variety of federal programs, from veterans services, to federal financial aid, to farm aid programs.

These small changes include emails to service members informing them about a savings plan they can enroll in, text messages to low-income students reminding them about college enrollment and FAFSA forms and letters mailed to farmers highlighting a microloan program from the Federal Farm Agency that can cover gaps left by the commercial lending industry.

Join us and learn about the science and research behind these improvements, and what kind of impact they have had.
