The Panel on Planetary Thinking invites applications for the first round of a consecutive, four-year fellowship program which explores what it means that we do not simply live ‘on’, but are part of an ever-changing planet. In 2022, the first two pairs of artists & scholars will be exploring planetary materials in and through collaborative projects. Throughout their fully funded, three months residence at the Justus Liebig University (JLU), Germany, fellows gain the unique opportunity to conduct research, create artworks, and engage in transdisciplinary dialogues between the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and the arts.

The two first fellowships are awarded throughout the summer, and two others throughout the winter term of 2022, either to be realized within the period April-July or September-December. Fellows are provided with newly renovated and furnished studios and office spaces inside of Giessen’s most charismatic, old-style buildings. They are expected to design a workshop, masterclass, or alternatively formatted event, depending on their individual, scholarly and/or artistic subject matterscreativity is strongly encouraged!

Deadline for this first round is December 5th, 2021. For more information on the program as well as the application process, please see our website.
