The Penn State Program on African Studies will host the 2016 African Social Data Conference from February 12-13th, 2016. We are calling for original papers relevant to the collection and analysis of quantitative social, economic or political data from the African continent. Papers are expected to address the significance of social science data for African development, broadly defined. We encourage submissions that examine how existing data systems, new technologies, innovative methods, and Big Data could be used for addressing substantive questions emerging in or across African countries. In addition, we welcome papers that address technical issues of measurement and analysis, including issues of sampling and missing data, as well as papers that introduce new datasets to address questions of public policy concern.
