Dear colleagues,

A short message to remind you that abstracts for the "Posthumanist Vocality" seminar must be submitted by midnight Pacific Time on 23 Sept. 2015. The seminar takes place during the next annual congress of the American Comparative Literature Association held at Harvard University (Cambridge MA)  from 17-20 March 2016.

Our panel seeks to convene media and literary critics, musicologists, composers, as well as other cultural theorists committed to further deconstructing the voice as a placeholder of identity. We welcome papers examining aspects of the sonorous voice from a broad range of critical perspectives and in different media: from animal studies to voice studies and legal studies, and from literature (both print and electronic) to opera and performance art. As our goal is to broaden the scope and the relevance of posthumanist vocality for interdisciplinary research, we welcome also presentations that do not directly pertain to literary texts, but will nevertheless contribute to our understanding of vocality in different areas of study.
