Call for Chapter Proposals: A New Role for Museum Education: Purpose, Approach, and Mindset

Deadline for Abstracts November 1, 2021

In this edited volume targeted at students and professionals, authors revisit and reimagine the legacy of museum education practices, reflect on the changing context of community and the role of cultural institutions, and provide insights into new directions that museums can take with a visitor-centered mindset. The book provides foundational concepts around educational philosophies that guide practice, practical methods and approaches for implementation, and the ethos of the museum as an educational institution intended to support community learning and engagement that are essential to support the wide-ranging learning needs of all audiences. Please see this link for an expanded call for chapters that outlines the premise of the volume and suggested topics. Feel free to circulate to colleagues you think may be interested.

To submit your chapter proposal please send a 500-word abstract (including references) and a short bio for each author (up to 70 words each) to eleejwood@gmail.com  by November 1, 2021. The selected authors will be expected to deliver a full paper (3,000-5,000 words) by April 4, 2022.
