BRIQ (Belt & Road Initiative Quarterly) is currently seeking submissions for a special issue on “A Carbon-Hydrogen Era”.

Immediate implementation of energy policies based on Renewable Energy Sources (RES) constitutes a topic of primary importance and a comprehensive field of cooperation among the participants of the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI). This topic is particularly important in the fight against Climate Change.

The present special issue is predicated on the assumption that our planetary survival depends on abandoning the Coal-Oil-Natural Gas (Traditional Fossil Fuels- TFF) civilization. This project is an essential component of the BRI’s framework of “Ecological Civilization”, which envisages a “New World Order” characterized by a strong harmony between human beings and the environment.

Based on the context depicted above, the Belt & Road Initiative Quarterly (BRIQ) calls for academic articles, essays and book reviews that address issues related to Renewable Energy Technologies, led by Hydrogen & Carbon-based technologies, bioeconomy, low carbon economy, green hydrogen, ecological civilization, clean and sustainable energy.

Broad topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • The potential of hydrogen as a clean and inexhaustible type of RES,
  • Using sodium boron hydride and ammonia to store hydrogen as a portable and storable RES type,
  • As a hydrogen source, the advantages of the Black Sea with its unique feature because of being rich in hydrogen sulfide reserves,
  • Using Hydrogen-Hydrogen Fuel Cell in vehicles in transportation and its positive environmental results,
  • Using hydrogen sulfide, which is present in the Black Sea and is a candidate to pose a serious environmental threat, as a hydrogen source,
  • The Black Sea with very rich Gas Hydrate reserves as an area of vast opportunities in the context of the BRI,
  • Methods and new technologies to be used in the conversion of methane gas to hydrogen and carbon–another area of cooperation in line with the guiding principles of the BRI,
  • Using methane-derived carbon in the production of advanced materials,
  • Economic advantages of hydrogen as a fuel in electrical energy, heating, cooling, and transportation,
  • “Green Hydrogen” production through RES types, such as wind and solar (PV) with intermittent character,
  • Developing economically and technically workable methods and technologies in order to produce Green Hydrogen from the seawater.

Deadline for Paper Submissions: January 20, 2022
