The journal Social History of Alcohol and Drugs (SHAD), published by University of Chicago Press, is seeking a Book Review Editor to join our team. This position entails commissioning, selecting, and editing book reviews for publication in the journal's bi-annual publication cycle. This position fills an important role in the journal's editorial team, as it helps ensure that SHAD provides scholarly reviews of the newest monographs in the field. We are especially interested in providing reviews that cover wide temporal and geographical ranges, as well as a diversity of topics related to alcohol and drug history. We are currently in particular need of expertise in fields beyond modern Europe and North America. This is a virtual position and is not limited by geography.

Applicants with a Ph.D. in History in a related field are especially encouraged to apply. In your cover letter, please note any editing or publication experience and indicate how your own research relates to the broad fields covered by SHAD.
