Some of the most notable contributions to the world of literature have been made by Canadian authors, including Margaret Atwood, Alice Munro, Michael Ondaatje, Yann Martel, and Thomas King. However, discussions of Canadian authors sometimes receive short shrift in the United States. This panel seeks to explore commonalities and divergences in the themes and styles of Canadian authors, their views of Canadian cultures in a globalizing epoch and of Canadian relations with their North American neighbors, their treatment of gender, indigenous rights, environmental concerns, and other salient topics. Please submit a well written 250-word abstract via the Northeast Modern Language Association Covnention submission page for this panel.
