The American Battlefield Trust, America’s largest non-profit battlefield preservation organization, is seeking an enthusiastic workhorse/educator/project manager with a passion for protecting American battlefield land and educating the public about the first 100 years of our nation's history.
The Education Associate is responsible for:
- Helping to implement K-12 and adult education programs
- Helping to manage K-12 curriculum expansion and development
- Managing the continuing education certification program
- Helping to create and manage online learning portals
- Assisting with user feedback surveys (data collecting and reporting)
- Keeping up with state and national social studies standards
- Assisting with various education events, projects and video shoots
All with the goal of supporting the Trust’s goal to engage digitally 2/3 of all American students by 2026.
The ideal candidate is a prolific, tech-savvy content creator, a solid communicator, an experienced small project manager, an excellent time manager, with a knowledge of early American history (focus on 1765-1875), a competent administrator and problem solver, who is comfortable with learning new classroom technologies, and has an eye for details. Experience in developing and facilitating teacher professional development, or curriculum development experience are a plus. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, be able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, have a bachelors degree (preferably in education or history), and have at least two years of experience working full time in a professional environment, preferably one associated with history or education. Some travel, mostly to battlefield-centric locations or conferences, is desired.
The American Battlefield Trust offers an array of benefits to the successful candidate and salary is commensurate with experience. The Education Associate works out of the Trust's headquarters office in Washington, D.C., and reports to an energetic duo of passionate educator/historians.
