CFP: Special Issue of Slayage: Firefly 20 Years On
Co-editors Sherry Ginn and Heather M. Porter invite proposals or completed essays for a special issue that revisits the beloved and sorely missed television series Firefly (2002-2003) in celebration of the series’ twentieth anniversary. We are interested in a variety of topics as well as diverse disciplinary approaches. Proposals should demonstrate not only a clear methodology and strong thesis but also a familiarity with the myriad articles and essays that have been published since the series’ premiere. We would be especially pleased to see innovative perspectives on topics such as the show’s paratexts or production elements along with an examination of the series’ continuing story as presented in the Firefly comics and novels.
Queries and Submissions
Queries are welcomed; please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and indicate that it is a “Query/Proposal/Paper” in the subject line. Send 350-500-word proposals or 5,000-7,000-word essays in Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) to the same email address. Please label your attachment with “Firefly,” your last name, and the date (day.month.year)—e.g., “Firefly.Jayne.1.09.21.” We suggest but do not require that proposals include a working bibliography. Please provide, in a separate document or in the body of the email, a brief biography and selected vita. Essays will be blind peer-reviewed.
We intend to publish this special issue in Fall 2022.
