The 71st annual meeting of the New York State Association of European Historians will be held at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY on October 15-16, 2021. The conference begins on Friday evening with a social gathering, dinner, and the plenary lecture. Paper panels are on Saturday. Given the accelerating pace of vaccinations against COVID-19 and the expected improved public health situation over the coming months, the Association is planning for an in-person gathering. If these circumstances change, the Association will consider moving to a virtual, online format for the conference.
The Association encourages submissions that address any aspect of European history, and we particularly welcome papers that connect Europe with the wider world. In addition to traditional scholarly papers, we are also interested in individual or full session proposals that address issues of pedagogy. We have also had members bring groups of their advanced undergraduate students both to observe and to present their work and welcome proposals for student sessions. The Association prides itself on providing a welcoming and collegial atmosphere at the conference, and we very strongly encourage graduate students and independent and early-career scholars to submit proposals, including papers based on work(s)-in-progress.
Proposals for papers and/or panels should include a 100-150 word abstract for each paper and a one-page c.v. for each presenter. Email proposals to NYSAEH president, Richard Fogarty (email@example.com) by July 1, 2021.
