The Pilecki Institute: Totalitarianism in East-Central Europe 1939–1989: History and Memory. Graduate Academy 2021-2022
Research, Presentation, Publication, Travel Opportunity for MA/PhD Candidates in Modern History: The Pilecki Institute in Warsaw, Poland, provides an extraordinary opportunity for American graduate students who would like to engage in research in the history of totalitarianism. The Institute suggests a number of topics pertaining to the totalitarian systems and their affect on society, but it is a flexible project. The program provides online instruction, lectures, access to online sources, and assistance by English-speaking Polish academics. Familiarity with the Polish, Russian, or German language is not required.
The results of the research will be presented at a special conference at Valdosta State University. The institute will publish quality work. A trip to Poland will supplement scholarship and will provide a valuable cultural experience. The cost of travel and visits to numerous cultural and historical sites is covered by the institute (except for a $300 fee).
The application deadline is June 30. Please contact Dr. Sebastian Bartos or directly the Pilecki Institute with any questions.
