Shroff College of Commerce Kandivali (W), Mumbai in collaboration with Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal (MAVIM) and Beti Bachao Abhiyan Department of Students' Development, Shivaji University-Maharashtra is organizing "One Day International Conference on Looking at the Pandemic through Gender Lens" On Monday 24th May, 2021 on Zoom Platform and Live on YouTube.

Concept Note

The very presumption that crises affect everyone equally is a fallacy especially in the context of gender, and COVID-19 is no exception. COVID-19 is exposing vulnerabilities in social, political, and economic systems. It is forcing a shift in priorities and funding across public and private sectors, with far-reaching effects on the well-being of women. Women must be the architects as well as the beneficiaries of efforts to build back stronger and better in response to these highly visible fault lines. Social and economic policies and programmes to confront the fallout of this crisis must be inclusive and transformative, addressing women’s leadership and labour, both outside and within the home. Applying a gender lens in designing fiscal stimulus packages and social assistance programmes is crucial for building a more prosperous, equal, inclusive, and resilient society.

The Conference aims to open a dialogue among students, faculties, research scholars, development facilitators, professionals working in public and private sectors and any other person who want to bring forth their research work in the field of women studies especially during the pandemic. The conference will be facilitated through a combination of presentations, panel discussions and parallel sessions. A Rapporteur-General to be identified prior to the meeting, working with session note takers, will summarize the key elements covered during the conference.
