The partner institutions of the European Summer School on Cold War History and the Cold War Research Network in the Netherlands are pleased to announce that the 10th edition of the School will be hosted by the Global Cold War Research Group at Utrecht University, on 1-3 September 2021. This will be a fully virtual event. Sessions will be held between 10AM and 6PM, Central European Time (GMT+1).

The Summer School is an excellent opportunity for PhD candidates and early career researchers to present papers, get to know one another, and discuss their work with peers and experts in the field. We encourage submissions on any aspect of the (Global) Cold War, broadly defined.  Of particular interest are papers that draw on newly available primary sources, employ non-traditional methodologies, and highlight perspectives of previously understudied actors from (Eastern) Europe, the Soviet Union, and the Global South. Researchers that focus on race, gender, transnational networks, reconciliation, the politics of memory, the environment, development, and ideas are actively encouraged to apply.

To apply for the Summer School, prospective participants should submit a 300-word abstract and a brief academic CV (in a single PDF document, with the file titled as your surname). Please send your application to coldwarsummerschool2021@uu.nl by 30 April 2021.
