Now seeking contributors to a forthcoming two-volume Encyclopedia of the British Empire to be published by ABC-CLIO. Expressions of interest are welcome from graduate students, postdocs, professors, and public history professionals.

A final entry list has been determined by the editor and publisher. Entries range from the earliest years of English expansion in the early-modern period to the decline of the British Empire in the 20th century. Entry categories include: Government & Politics, Organization & Administration, Groups & Organizations, Individuals, Key Events, Military, Objects & Artifacts, and Key Places.

In addition to A-Z entries, the encyclopedia will also contain eight argumentative essays: four on the question, "What made this empire successful?" and four on, "What led to the empire's decline?"

Individual entries will be no longer than 1,000 words. Essays may be 2,000-3,000 words.

Deadline for the initial round of contributions is March 1, 2016. Additional calls for contributors will appear thereafter.

For a full list of entries, and/or to express interest in contributing, please email Dr. Mark Doyle (editor): mdoyle@mtsu.edu
