This course is produced by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture Education Programme, the Center for the Study of the Built Environment (CSBE), and the Edraak massive open online course portal. It provides an overview of the architectural evolution of the mosque from the birth of Islam to the present, with an emphasis on the past half a century. For this latter period, the course will focus on mosques that have received or have been shortlisted for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture since the completion of its first cycle in 1980.

The course instructor is Mohammad al-Asad, the Director of CSBE. The course language is English, but it also includes full Arabic subtitles.
