The history of 'psy' and 'neuro' disciplines has often been told with a focus on written materials such as case studies and publications. Yet, the advent of cinema brought with it new techniques and methods for observing and studying the workings of the mind and brain via bodily gestures, movements and behaviours. This one day symposium will focus on the significance of film to understanding the development of the mind and brain sciences. It will focus on how film observation techniques were used to validate scientific knowledge.

Speakers include Dr Bonnie Evans, Professor Janet Harbord, Dr Des O'Rawe, Dr Felix Rietmann, Katie Joice, Dr Mathias Winter, and Dr Kim Hajek.
